The rain was silver; I mean literally drops of silver were raining down in Tucson, AZ. It’s the year 3019; the world has pulled itself together. After years of nuclear war and releasing of deadly viruses, about 300 people remain on earth; we all are now in Tucson, one of the ‘safe’ places.

I Elijah Scots have been selected for an expedition to the clouds. Our best scientist Eliza, my sister, is studying the droplets. We the expeditioners, are on a quest, you could say to find the source of our silver. We are going to go up to the clouds in an ancient device, the hot air balloon. I only hope we find the answer to our question: why is the rain changed?

We took off around noon; the hot air balloons were bland, not like pictures of them…
