So, I had a long conversation with a friend about #BlogBattle and related stuff. It was a good discussion that had many facets, but one that digs deep in my heart is the idea of community.
I know not everyone thinks writing short stories is all that fun or productive, but I beg to differ when it comes to #BlogBattle.
Our ‘battles’ are not about winning and losing or even about writing perfect stories. In fact, they’re almost quite the opposite. When you #BlogBattle, you first stretch your imagination to go places it may not have thought to go before, giving you a deeper well of creativity from which to dip. After that you nudge your slightly introverted self outside your comfort zone by sharing your hasty little works of art (writing is an art form) with others who get to read and comment. What comes out of this is that then you find a community.
It is a community of people who are happy to see you, to read your stories, to encourage you, to offer further ideas, to be friends, to care about you as a person beyond the screen, to congratulate you on successes, and offer support when things don’t always work out the way you’d hoped.
I have to brag about the #BlogBattle community, although we are still young as a group of people, because everyone involved has proven they want to help, encourage, & support each other to be better people and writers. That is One Cool Community.
Having said all that, just know, we are open to more friends joining this cool community! Just jump on in and have a go! All it takes is putting yourself out there (I know it can feel awkward at first. I’ve been there, done that) and having a little fun.
You are welcome here.
