Supporting characters are important to any story line, and Ahmad is no exception. He’s a smart guy with a hot bod. haha He’s more than that, really. For one thing, he’s a high-ranking guardsman, the friend and confidant of High Prince Theiandar.

Ahmad was chosen from the realm of Nevin where men are known for honesty and valor, not to mention faith in the Almighty. Nevin is where the great Monasey is found. It’s kind of like a monastery. Between Ahmad’s home realm and Conleth are all the records and valued wisdom of the land.

He’s a scholar and a believer, wise and faithful. He’s also strong and loyal. If I could only tell you one thing about him it is that he is the kind of man you’d want for a friend.

Ahmad is the son of Castle Nevin’s gatekeeper, Axel. He’s in his mid twenties and trained for combat. As a gatekeeper’s son he already had to learn basic battle technique, but because he was befriended by Nevin’s Prince Melvyn (a handsome devil by all accounts), he was given extra training that made it possible for him to be chosen from an elite group of young men as one of High Prince Theiandar’s guardsman.

Ahmad has all the potential of greatness and is the friend of princes. That says a lot about him as a man.

In Book One of the Chronicles of the Twelve Realms, The Beauty Thief, Ahmad is a supporting character who brings a balance of wise words and a passion for his fellow-man. He is known for being an encouraging person but often says the wrong thing at the wrong time, likely due to the fact that he’s candid and forthright.

In Book Two, Captive Hope, he comes back as a much more involved character. Ahmad has more than honor at stake when he starts to crack under the pressure. He loses sight of his hope and faith in the midst of fear. It’s as though a rebellion has started in his heart when people he holds most dear are ripped from his life.

I love Ahmad’s character, and I can identify with his flash-fire temper. He loathes injustice, but until recently he had no idea how far he was willing to go to restore the balance. Sadly, his fervor leads him to think rashly, letting passion take over.

I don’t have anything against passion, mind you. In fact, I’m all about the passion. Love it. I just think we shouldn’t be ruled by our passions. It’s too easy to be consumed by them. Ahmad is walking a fine line with his and could easily lose sight of all wisdom and rationality. I’d hate to see where that would lead him!
