7/7/7 Challenge

Ah, E. Rawls, you’ve caught me at just the right moment to participate. I have finally started naming the chapters in my current WIP. For most, that may seem unspectacular, but for me it stirs up excitement. It reminds me of what each chapter holds, what every word brings to the story.

The rules of the 7/7/7 Challenge are simple:

  • Go to page 7 of your WIP
  • Scroll down to line 7
  • Share the next 7 sentences in a blog post.
  • After the excerpt tag 7 other writers to continue the challenge.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI’m currently working on Captive Hope. So, here we go!

“I’ll see you shortly, Highness.” She gave one last quick curtsy and shuffled out of the room.
Ahmad watched Idra go, admiration for her unmatched, quiet dignity overtaking his sensibilities. She never shirked her responsibility and was kind to a fault. He was far more attracted to her than he’d ever been willing to admit to anyone and couldn’t stop thinking about her.
“Ahmad, my friend,” Theiandar said, disrupting his train of thought,
“this trip we’re taking is not going to be pleasant.

OR

7/7/7/7 (the same thing, but from Chapter 7)

His smile spoke volumes. “But I do. I’m zealous to keep my rule, my own little kingdom. To prove to this superstitious lot I am a worthy leader I will erase the shame of the past.”

“Why don’t you just kill me then?”

He rose up on his feet and came so close Idra could smell his perspiration. He grasped both her hands and pulled her to her feet.

Well, I’m not sure if these are quotes worthy of your curiosity, but that’s what I got for now! Thanks for stopping in, and here are my seven nominations to continue the challenge:

J.A. Merkel

Lauren Gunter

Melissa Barker-Simpson

Nicholas Hughes

PhoenixGrey85

Kima Prince

Sara Letourneau

  1. Nice excerpts, Rachael! Both make me curious about who Idea and Ahmad are. 🙂

And thanks for the tag, too. Unfortunately I’m going to have to pass. I did a 7/7/7 over the fall, and I’m behind on a few other blog tags I was nominated for recently. So I have a lot of catching up to do once some deadline-oriented stuff is out of the way…
