I was nominated by my friend and fellow author, Kima Prince,
So what is the 7/7/7 challenge? It is where you share a snippet from one of your recent WIPs. I like to call it a WIP SNIPPET. Say it out loud. I bet it sounds as fun out loud as it does in my head. 🙂
The rules are simple:
- Go to page 7 of your WIP
- Scroll down to line 7
- Share the next 7 sentences in a blog post.
- After the excerpt tag 7 other writers to continue the challenge.
Here is my updated Captive Hope WIP snippet:
It was small things like this, calling each other by their given names, which gave her hope she didn’t dare admit even to herself.
Ahmad gave her one more heartfelt smile and left to retrieve the prince. She stood in the room, her hands resting on the back of a chair at the large round table, and daydreamed of an altogether more intimate sort of kiss. There was a chill in the air and no fire built upon the hearth to ward off the approaching tendrils of autumn’s crisp presence, but it didn’t dampen the warmth in her heart, neither did it erase the heat from her cheeks.
A few minutes passed in silence before Idra’s mind drifted back to the issue which had called her here. She could think of no reason why the prince would request to see her, and the thought of speaking about Caityn without the princess’s knowledge was unsettling. Idra only hoped she’d not be asked to keep any secrets from her cousin.
Are you curious? Entertained? Concerned? Bored? Eh, I don’t know really want to know! Haha. Just kidding. I do and I don’t at the same time. At any rate, I’m glad you read along!
Thanks for taking time out of your day to spend with me and these bits of upcoming stories. I love to share them with you and the best part of writing them is having people read them. I never want to waste your time, though! ❤
Sadly, I am not sure who to pick to carry on the 7/7/7 challenge. If you have a WIP you wouldn’t mind sharing, please let me know so I can add you to my list here and we can all follow along!

Who wants to be on my list of the writerly 7/7/7 challenged?
Well done! I always find these entertaining, if not a bit awkward, because it’s out of context and sometimes in the middle of a sentence. This is great. 🙂

Thanks Sarah. It turned out pretty well for a bit of a sneak peek into the novel and Idra’s character. Appreciate it!

Thanks, Sarah. It falls within the first chapter and just helps set up the temperature of relationship between these two main characters. 🙂

I’ll probably put it up on Sunday. My Five Minute Friday post goes up tonight, and usually gets a bit of traffic.
