Interview with Rachael Ritchey

Cathleen Townsend, one of our great Blog Battle Buddies, was kind enough to interview me this week! Was lots of fun answering her questions. 🙂

Cathleen Townsend

photo17Rachael Ritchey is the author of The Beauty Thief, a first in the Chronicles of the Twelve Realms series, who also hosts a weekly writing prompt on her website called Blog Battle. She’s a native Idahoan who knows next to nothing about potatoes except that she likes them. Now she can be found hiding in her basement in Eastern Washington, tapping away at the keyboard and exploring made-up worlds in her head.

What was the funniest mistake you’ve made as a writer?

I don’t know how funny it is, but I’ve gotten character names mixed up a few times. When I go back to edit I will stop, double-take, wince, & then furrow my brow while wondering if one of my beloved family members has sneaked onto my computer, switching the names with delighted mischief. I kinda wish it was the case. But no. That would be too…

  1. Really interesting interview. I know what you mean about words not flowing well between brain and mouth. I really wish I could edit my conversations sometimes. :/ And I agree that writing is the best part about writing. Losing yourself in made-up worlds and looking through someone else’s eyes for a while is the ultimate form of fun, in my world (and that applies to reading as well). 🙂

    1. You’re awesome, Phoenix. 😀 Thanks so much. It’s afraid fib for me to found out what great stuff we have in common. Whenever we get to merry and talk in person we will be sure to edit our conversation as we go. Hehe

  2. Great interview…got to know a little bit more about ya!! I love the revision tip, that makes a lot of sense. I love the covers to your books. Not only do I love to read, but I’m all about the cover as well. The graphics, the fonts, the whole layout is just done so well, and are absolutely captivating.

I got character names mixed up too recently. Darn extras! Cute interview. I enjoy spending time with WordPress friends online as well!

    1. The worst part was, these two I mixed up weren’t even extras! Haha I was editing and had a double-take moment when I noticed the silly mistake. Of course, my friends who were critiquing and editing noticed, too. I’m also glad to get to know all these great WP friends across the social media expanse.
