But before I get too far off track, I am pleased to be giving you a character spotlight from the book. I get to introduce you to none other than the main character, Adela! I’m thrilled I get to share about her today, and I hope you are as excited as I am to read Adela’s Curse.

Now, meet Adela

When the story begins, Adela is seventy years old. Faeries live for about six hundred years, so this essentially puts her at eighteen to nineteen years old in faery terms. She has wavy brown hair and brown eyes. Her most recognizable attribute is her voice. She is one of the best singers in the mountain. She is quiet and mostly keeps to herself except for a few close friends.

Adela is an orphan of sorts. Her parents have already left to seek the way to the stars (Heaven) due to her mother’s incurable sickness. A cousin of her mother is now Adela’s guardian. Her best friend is a faery named Lidia whose outgoing personality helps draw Adela out. Adela is also usually the more levelheaded of the two.

Adela specializes in the care of forest plant life. She has a specific territory in Celedon forest that she takes care and so spends most of her days outside. This makes her a prime target for witches wandering around trying to find a faery to exploit. More on that in the book.

Fun fact: Adela is the first female main character I have written. Usually I write male leads, so it was a little different to write a girl’s perspective.

Claire Banschbach was born and raised in Midland, TX, the fourth of eight children. She was homeschooled through high school and is now a proud member of the Texas A&M University class of 2014. She is currently working on her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Texas Tech University Health Science Center. She continues to write in her spare time (and often when she doesn’t have spare time).
