            Doing my best, Rachael, but I’m walking a tightrope over an abyss of nihilism.

            When you realize (and are told) that everyone would have had an easier time if you had died a few years ago…it’s hard to see a way forward, and to place any credence in “God has a plan”.

            Still writing, though.

              Oh, Andrew, I’m so sorry. I often think easier time of life doesn’t mean better or more fulfilled, though hard is exhausting. But easier feeds selfish and self-centered more often than not. And God’s plan isn’t about my happiness or yours or anyone else’s that you know. I know you know that just like I do, but we, all of us in our finite, egocentric, sinful hearts forget, especially when things are hard and it seems easier to let go or give up. Everything that you are writing and doing leaves a mark on this world, a part of a plan more infinite and detailed than any one person could ever fathom. Easier doesn’t mean better, just different, and there will be a day for that, just maybe not today. Honestly, I’m kind of tired of hearing that phrase, too…”God has a plan.” I want to say, “No duh.”It lacks comfort, sympathy, and empathy. It’s just something people say to fill a gap, a band aid of something resembling sympathy, but it gives no real balm to the suffering or terrible circumstances a person finds themselves in because it comes from, “Buck up, soldier” as opposed to, “I’m meeting you where you are in the midst of your suffering.” Your life, every day of it, is worth the heavy price paid, and God knows your suffering and the people around you, what they suffer on your behalf. He records it all. Nothing is outside his sight or reach. God’s given you a will to live and the strength to carry on. That’s nothing to take lightly. Hard as it may be now, every moment of your life, suffering, joys, and sorrows are shaping and molding those you come in contact with. Your life matters even in the smallest degree in this regard and impacts the future. Your drop of water makes ripples on the pond, my friend. Keep writing. Don’t stop. I know I am not experiencing the every day struggle to live you and Barbara are, so what I say comes from a place that can have very little empathy outside watching my own grandpa die of melanoma skin cancer and the struggle of maintaining self, courage, composure, dignity, purpose, and joy. Seeing my grandma’s every day struggle for strength, patience, joy, courage, endurance, and purpose…Knowing that when he passed away she was both sad and relieved. Though that time was very very very hard for her, she misses him every day. Though he was not always the best husband, she still loves him 20 years later. Though he was unkind with his words during the last of his time, and impatient more often than not, she has forgiven him and wishes he were still here with her, although she knows he’s in a better place. It’s hard, but it’s not forever. Eternity waits for us all on the other side. Keep writing. ❤

              You’ve really expressed a kind of love and compassion that is inspiring…and is a motivation to keep trying, and to pass along that compassion and care in whatever way I can.

            Amen! lol. It’s encouraged me to go through other things I have and don’t need. Truly, I needed to weed through my documents but now I don’t have to. And as I said, I didn’t lose any of my novels so all is well in the world!
