Book Cover Design From RR Publishing? (that’s me!)

Sooooo, listen folks, I need to be able to work from home, and I want to do that doing something that I love. Other than writing, and family loving, I enjoy making book covers and general formatting work. It’s true.

If you’ve been a follower of my blog for any amount of time you know I have been working at creating my own covers for the last three years, and over time I am improving. I keep working at it, and I’d like to take my growing skills combined with my passion to help others create book covers for their stories too. And the most sensible thing would be to turn my skill into a job that could help support the family I love while also getting rid of the added headache of cover design for my fellow authors. Makes sense, right?

I’m about half way through writing the series “How Not to Get Overwhelmed” which is a way to break up the daunting process of indie publishing, and in one segment I covered–haha covered–book cover design.

From that, I have had the great honor of helping Sarah Brentyn over at Lemon Shark work through ideas on her short story compilation book. We’re still working on it, tweaking things like font and placement and what not, but the process has been fun and challenging in a good way. I’m learning a lot from Sarah about working with an author on their individual cover.

That being said, I’ll be setting up a library of pre-made covers on a page here on my website–probably on Friday–and I’ll have contact info to get ahold of me if you would be interested in purchasing one of my designs (with the options to play with font and text placement), or working out a custom design using your own photography.

I think that using your own photos/artwork (not found on the internet) will be the best way for you to ensure you get a unique and royalty free design. In the pre-made covers I design I’ll have a mixture of my own photography/art and that of certain individuals on pixabay.com too. These photos are considered “public domain” and require no attribution (unless you want to give it).

Well, I think I’ve rambled on enough for the moment. Let me know what you think of this idea! I’d love to hear from you!

    1. Thank you Kristin! I appreciate that so much. 😀 I’ve been thinking about it for over a year now, but it’s been while helping on Sarah’s project that I’ve really found how much I truly enjoy it. ❤

  1. I am so excited you’re doing this! Happy that you’re branching out into something you enjoy and helping others in the process. Two things you love. And, if you need a testimonial, recommendation, reference, endorsement, or any other statement of how wonderful you are, do let me know. 🙂 Be happy to provide one.

    1. Thanks Susan! I really appreciate you saying so. I’m excited and hoping that I can give people amazing quality designs at a very reasonable price so that even people like me who can’t afford the big shot designers can still have beautiful, eye-catching covers. Phew! See. Excited! haha ❤
