#BlogBattle “Splash”

I did not get to finish! In fact, I barely started writing this, and am now posting it very late. It is completely INCOMPLETE. lol I did not win this round 😀 Click the link above for more (better) stories!

Musty, damp, moldy. Brogan spied from a veritable hole in the bank. Roots wound around him like gnarled, twisting fingers, while his jeans soaked up the water from the mud walls that hid him there.

“Splish-splash I was takin’ a bath, all about a Saturday night!” Fiona yelled, though she would have said the cackling passed for singing.

She stood hip deep in the quick-moving water and slapped the surface. Her knee length flowery skirt pulled down stream, waving back and forth like a flag on a light breeze.

“Oh. How about this one.” She pushed upstream, closer to Brogan’s hiding place. “Rubber ducky, you’re the one. You make bath time lots of fun. Rubber ducky, I am awfully fond of you…”

Her vacillating tones played an eerie tune to his ears as he held his breath. The searing pain of his lungs reminded him he was alive.

“Come out. I only want to play,” she said, coaxing, sweet. “By the light, of the silvery moon . . . .” she sang, her words trailing off.

The heavy beat of his heart thudded in his ears. The closer she came, her white-blond hair shimmering in the moonlight, the more erratic the rhythm danced.

He watched her twirl, a graceful dancer under the starry sky.

  1. I love how much personality the girl has, despite the brevity of her introduction! 🙂 Alas, I don’t think I could do justice to your excellent start, but I hope it’s picked up by an equally talented individual!

    1. LOL This could go just about anywhere. I’m glad you found it interesting. These last few weeks have been brutal with my writing schedule. I’m putting everything I’ve got into learning to write screenplays and revising the one I wrote before I take my insanely high hopes to pitch sessions in a couple weeks. haha Thanks, Spaceman, the extra…ordianre! 😉
