#BlogBattle October: CAVE

Good day to you! If you’ve missed out on the announcement, the BlogBattle is back! Yes, yes it is. And now is the time to write your story for October so everyone can read and enjoy it throughout the month and in the future.

And here is this month’s word:

Of course, the best place to connect and get dialed in for the battles is at our BlogBattlers WordPress Blog: https://blogbattlers.wordpress.com/2018/10/02/cave/ where you’ll meet some of the other writers, have access to links to past stories and see the current word for each month.

I procrastinated last month (I’m going to blame it on the beginning of school for my kids and all the added chaos of afterschool activities. ;)) and didn’t get a story written, which is super sad! So, my advice is to spend this week writing your story! Next week on Tuesday we’ll start posting links. Your battle story will get a link too! We add links as they come in for the rest of the month, so you’ve got until the 30th of October to post your story.

Now, Halloween falls at the end of the month and our word is cave, so that’s some pretty good inspiration for where to start! 🙂

One fun way to use BlogBattle is to use the prompt words to write a serial story. A lot of people have done that in the past, and it’s been fun to hang out regularly with a character created this way. Of course, a new story every month with a new protag is also fresh!

The cool thing about the word prompt is that it’s great if the word carries the theme of a story, but it could also just randomly (not too random! lol) appear in whatever story you’ve written. It leaves tons of room for creativity but also gives a simple goal, making it a good writing exercise.

Anyway, that’s my spiel. If you’re interested, click here for the simple rules, and then head to the main prompts on the menu to see the latest word prompt post.

The rules and info are also listed on this month’s post: https://blogbattlers.wordpress.com/2018/10/02/cave/

Happy Writing!

  1. I knew I had one about a cave so I dug it up and reviewed it. It’s in the word number neighbourhood and definitely not PG 13… but it is one of my worse written stories ever so it’s going to need serious editing. Fortunately I have almost a month, so I should be able to twist it into some semblance of a story… hah!
