Candice Coates: Winner of “Fallow” #BlogBattle

Please welcome the courageous and cutest Candice Coates! Candice is an incredibly artistic person with talent to spare. She’s got a great sense of humor, and it shows through in her comedic western tale! Her story, “All Washed Up: A Shenanigans Continuation,” has won the “Fallow” #Blogbattle, and I hope you’ll find your way to her blog and read some of her fiction!

Now, without further ado, let’s learn a bit more about our lovely friend.

1) When you publish your books, Candice, do you plan on designing your own covers? Or should I ask, what is your plan for cover design? 🙂

I have a degree in Advertising and Graphic Design, so in theory I am well able to design my own covers though I am a bit rusty with working with programs like Photoshop. I do however intend to better my skills and give forth an effort to create the covers for my first round of publishing. I would like to have someone else bring their vision to the table in the future. I think another artist’s perspective blended with my own would make the cover image even better.

I think you have a very well-balanced view of the subject. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

2) As a writer who is also artistic, what is one piece of advice you would give your friends who are afraid to step out of their comfort zone to create new and different art (writing and otherwise)?

I would say the only bad art is the art that was never made. The same goes for writing. Every thing in life, any kind of growth requires risks and change, both are scary things but the results are always worth while. And hey, if what you created isn’t the best at least you will be able to say you tried. The other option is to live in regret with the record of “what if I had…” constantly playing in the background.

I hate that record! Do not play the “what if I had…” record! Pursue your art, writing, dream job, and inspire others to follow in your steps. That is something you will never regret. 🙂

3) If an alien were to stop by and offer you a lifetime supply of dark chocolate in exchange for your ability to see anything farther than two feet in front of you, would you take it?

No! I need my sight to create art, that and the fact that becoming a Chocolatier is one of the things on my “before I go to glory” list, aka “bucket list.” So I’m keeping my site and fancy dark chocolates too!

Ooo, I want to try some of your dark chocolates! Mmmmm, my favorite! Thanks Candice. 🙂 Keep up the beautiful art, let the creativity flow, and never play that awful record!

I hope you enjoyed getting to know Candice today and that you’ll take the time to connect with her. Here’s her blog: I Came for the Soup.
