Podcasts for Writers

This is not an exhaustive list of podcasts. In fact, it’s only a few, and I’d love to know what writerly podcasts you listen to.

I listen on Stitcher on my phone. So, this limits the ones I have access to, since I don’t have iTunes, and some podcasts haven’t expanded their reachability. Stitcher is easily accessible on smartphones and your computer!

    I started listening to the Story Grid podcast at the beginning and found it helpful, but I haven’t listened in a while.

    I recently loaded some episodes from the following writing-related shows: Launch, Strong Female Characters, Writing Excuses and Narrative Breakdown. Haven’t listened to enough episodes (and some are new) to review them although Launch, by a Hollywood screenwriter trying to publish a middle-grade novel, sounds interesting. Kind of like Storygrid, he’s doing a podcast that will follow him as he “launches” this new endeavor.

    I’ve put the Creative Penn back in my feed and added Helping Writers Become Authors and Smart Author. Thanks.

    I recently switched to the Overcast podcast app. Not sure how Stitcher works, but Overcast allows variable speeds (btw 1x-3x and amounts in between), has voice boost and smart speed (shortens silences), and you can create playlists. So I have a “Writing Shows” playlist where all my writing podcasts are curated into a single feed. It’s a huge improvement from the Apple podcast app. And I’m still learning about it’s features.

      Thanks for sharing, Cindy! I’ll have to check out that app. I like Stitcher, though, but I’m not sure of the extra features. Admittedly, I haven’t even bothered to check. haha I’d love to check out some of those other writerly podcasts, too!

    I listen to all of those except Smart Author. I’ll have to check that out. I think the other big one I listen to regularly is KM Weiland’s Helping Writers Become Authors. I think my favourite has to be The Creative Penn though. so positive and full of really valuable information.
