A Sequel at the Speed of Light: The Phoenix Mandate from author David Webb

Last month I reviewed The Light Thief, a new dystopian science fiction fantasy novel by debut author David Webb. I also had the opportunity to interivew him.

His second book, I’m excited to say, will be released February 4th, 2020, and today I get to help reveal the cover to book two in The Light Thief series:

The Phoenix Mandate

The Phoenix Mandate Synopsis

Victory has come at last.
The Lightbringers’ death machine is destroyed.
But a horrifying power has awoken.
It spells certain death for the entire Web.
And the Director is coming.

Aniya Lyons is on the verge of death after her harrowing encounter with the Lightbringers. Discovering too late that she’s a ticking time bomb, tragedy strikes when she inadvertently kills a friend. And it’s only a matter of time before she unleashes yet another awful fate on her new family.

She is dismayed to discover that the only one who can help her is Nicholas, who has been revealed as a traitor loyal to the Lightbringers, despite claiming to love Aniya. Forced to accept his help, she flees her new home and winds up trapped in a Silver Guard training facility with Nicholas, where they are both forced to take part in a brutal series of fights to stay alive. And with every fight, Aniya gets closer and closer to revealing her identity to the Lightbringers and unleashing the terrifying power that is simmering within her.

But someone is coming for her, someone whose intentions are clouded in mystery. He offers a way to save Aniya and everyone she loves, but at a terrible price. However, Aniya knows she could become a weapon in his hands. And if he’s lying, giving herself over to this man could spell the death of everything she’s ever known.
