The Droseran Saga by Ronie Kendig is one of my favorite sff series to date, and I’m so excited for this next book: Shadow of Honor!
Book one, Brand of Light, and book two, Dawn of Vengeance, are both available now. I bought them both in ebook format, but when I found great deals on the hardbacks I jumped at the chance to have this series on my shelf. I’ll probably post a photo on my IG later. haha
So, you probably want to see the beautiful cover!
Isn’t it beautiful?! I had no hand in any of the cover design, of course, and am just a huge fan of both Ronie Kendig and her cover artist, Kirk DuPonce of DogEared Design. The series covers have a great cohesive theme in both color, font, main images and even in the detailed images that change from cover to cover. It’s just a beautiful set. And the best part is that the covers are wrapped around great space opera fiction!
Held captive, tortured by monsters of a nightmarish alien race, Marco Dusan clings to a final goal: keep these beasts from the Quadrants, even if it means orchestrating his own death. But his dreams betray that singular design. In them his bonded calls to him across lightyears. Does he leave her to fight Symmachia alone, or risk bringing an unwinnable war to every planet in the Quadrants?
On board the alien dreadnought, Eija Zacdari flounders, torn amidst military machinations, prophecies, and an inexplicable bond with one of the fearsome creatures who have imprisoned her friends. Only by uncovering the truth about an ancient conflict now shrouded in deception will she find her place.
Faced with her true identity, Eija sees her purpose snap into focus, and she realizes the war Marco fears may be the very one he has been called to start.
My Goodreads review of Brand of Light (Book One):
My favorite kind of space opera
The beginning had me a little confused, but it all straightened out the more time I spent with the characters. I fell in love with Marco, but I’d hate of he could smell everything about me, including my feelings. Haha The story is mainly Marco the hunter and Kersei the machitis’, but there are several other great characters like Tigo and Jez I hope we get to see more of in the next book! The story is full of action, mystery, prophecy, romance (the best kind, really) and heartache. Totally recommend Brand of Light to teens and older who enjoy space opera, a touch of romance, plenty of action, a complicated world, aliens, and characters you can’t help rooting for.
And Dawn of Vengeance (Book Two)
Well, almost dead. It’s killing me where Vengeance ends, but I’ll have to fight to stay alive to read the next book. I can almost smell it! A fantastic sequel to Brand of Light.
There’s a preorder special for Shadow of Honor happening right now before it releases in June 2022.

And, of course, if you haven’t read the first two books in this series, I’d highly recommend you get yourself copies, or at the very least, make sure to recommend them to your local library so you and other lovers of sff space opera can enjoy a new adventure.
What other sff space opera can you recommend to me? Thanks!
